Artificial Intelligence: Regulating the Modern Prometheus

The Ohio State Technology Law Journal presents its 2024 symposium: Artificial Intelligence: Regulating the Modern Prometheus. This event will take place at the Moritz College of Law in Saxbe Auditorium on Friday, March 22, 2024. There will also be an option to watch via Zoom.  The symposium will feature three panels and a keynote speaker which will discuss the risks artificial intelligence technologies pose in varying legal contexts, and how these risks can be addressed with regulation. A tentative schedule of the symposium follows:

Impact of Artificial Intelligence on the Criminal Justice System: 9:15 – 10:45

This panel, moderated by Professor Sean Hill, will dive into ways the criminal justice system is already using AI technologies and the impacts these implementations are having on the nation’s communities.

Uses and Risks of Artificial Intelligence in Healthcare: 11:00 – 12:15

This interdisciplinary panel, moderated by Professor Ruqaiijah Yearby, will discuss how AI technologies have begun to be used by medical professionals, the different ways these technologies can help doctors diagnose and treat patients, and the ways these technologies can entrench discrimination in the healthcare field.

A discussion, moderated by Professor Dennis Hirsch, focused on different regulatory strategies, how those strategies have been successfully implemented in the past, and how those strategies may be applied to artificial intelligence.
