Student Pro Bono Record Relief Workshop
Register for the Drug Enforcement and Policy Center’s pro bono record relief workshop. At the workshop, Moritz 1Ls, 2Ls, and 3Ls will receive legal training in the field of record relief and be assigned clients for whom they will prepare sealing and expungement applications. Students will also contribute to the center’s record relief program by contacting a set number of Clerk of Courts to collect filing information.
Hours spent in training and completing assigned work are eligible for the Public Service Fellows Program.
Registration is required and space is limited.
How it Works
- Attend the workshop on Saturday, March 22 to learn about Ohio sealing and expungement laws and the Opportunity Port program.
- Receive 2-3 client assignments through the DEPC Opportunity Port system.
- Review client cases, determine eligibility, and prepare applications for filing with Ohio court(s).
- Contact 5-10 Clerk of Courts offices to document their filing processes.
- Upload clients’ criminal case information, sealing and expungement applications, and Clerks’ filing information by Monday, April 7 to the DEPC Opportunity Port system.
Registration
Spots for the workshop are limited and will go to the first 10 student registrants. All other registrants will be added to a waitlist. Should spots become available, we will reach out to students on the waitlist by order of registration date.
