Singgih Prabowo - Indonesia - Class of 2022

As one of the in-house counsels to the Indonesian Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Singgih Prabowo works closely with lawyers from major oil companies such as Exxon, Chevron, and Conoco Philip in developing and finalizing contracts and permits, conducting security, and addressing clearance issues. For Singgih, an LLM degree would substantially enrich his legal education and make him the first in the Ministry to pursue higher education in the United States.

While studying for his LLM degree at the Moritz College of Law, contract law and tort law have become two of his favorite subject areas as they have expanded his understanding of US common law. As an in-house counsel who works with energy companies around the world, Singgih’s enhanced legal knowledge will position him to elevate his career while also gaining new perspectives and insight on how to collaborate and negotiate with energy partners and international corporations.

Due to the stipulations of the scholarship granted to him by the Indonesian government, Singgih will return to his home country after graduating in May. In addition to returning to the Ministry, he is also interested in dedicating himself as a pro-bono lecturer for any educational institution in Indonesia and possibly pursuing a doctoral degree.

For prospective students who are mulling the decision to pursue their LLM at Ohio State, he advises, “Be enthusiastic and open to new things because this program will bring you to the next level of your career and deliver a life experience you will never regret.”
