    Ohio Gov. John Kasich’s office announced on Monday that the governor has selected Asim Z. Haque ’06 as the next chairman of the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio. His term will start on May 20 when he succeeds fellow alumnus Andre Porter ‘05.Read more

  • Carla Moore ’77 receives Catholic Diocese of Cleveland’s St. Thomas More Award

    Carla Moore '77 was selected by the Catholic Diocese of Cleveland as the recipient of this year's St. Thomas More Award. The annual award pays tribute to St. Thomas More, the patron saint of lawyers. It is given to a member of the legal community who has shown outstanding personal integrity, community service and professional excellence. Read more

  • New Legal Self-Help Center Opens for Litigants in Franklin County

    On May 2, the Franklin County Municipal Court and The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law opened the Franklin County Municipal Court Self-Help Resource Center to assist litigants who are representing themselves in court navigate the legal system.

    The Self-Help Resource Center is located on the Tenth Floor of 369 South High Street and is open from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.  Attorney Kayla Callahan ’15 is the current Franklin County Municipal Court Pro Se Fellow and serves as the center’s principal staff person.Read more

  • Professor Micah Berman receives award from the National Cancer Institute

    Professor Micah Berman was named the recipient of a K07 career development award from the National Cancer Institute (NCI) for his project “Designing a Comprehensive Framework for the Evaluation of Tobacco Products.”

    The award, valued at $820,000, will go toward training in public health sciences, risk assessment, and statistical analysis from The Ohio State University and Johns Hopkins University over the next five years. Berman plans to use that training and knowledge to advance the science of tobacco regulation and help reduce the incidence of tobacco-related cancer.Read more

  • Professor Amna Akbar receives American Constitution Society award

    Professor Amna Akbar was awarded the Columbus Lawyer Chapter of the American Constitution Society’s Progressive Young Leader Award at its annual awards reception on April 28. The award recognizes inspirational lawyers, under forty, that have exhibited an early, but distinguished, record of protecting the vitality of the United States Constitution and its fundamental values.
