Melinda Haggerty ’10 is the senior vice president and general counsel for the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption. “When a child is adopted from foster care, we not only change that child's life, but we change their family tree. The cycle of abuse often times repeats itself over generations. And we're interrupting that cycle for all future generations to come.     Frank Ellis Bazler ’53, of Troy, Ohio, passed away peacefully on May 12, 2017. He was 87. A loving husband, community leader, and passionate supporter of The Ohio State University, he is survived by his wife of 62 years, Virginia "Ginni" (Hutchison) Bazler, and many other loved relatives.Read more

    Ronald R. Petroff '06 was selected as a Columbus Business First 40 Under 40 Honoree in April. Recipients are professionals who have achieved great success in their chosen fields and make a significant contribution to their communities. Petroff is the managing partner of Petroff Law Offices, LLC and specializes in family law.
  • Colleen C. Murnane ’95 awarded 2017 Women of Professional Excellence Award

    Colleen C. Murnane '95 was awarded the 2017 Women of Professional Excellence Award from the YWCA Greater Cleveland. According to the organization, women receiving this award exemplify high professional standards and evidence of career and personal growth; make significant contributions to the effective, efficient operation of their organizations; display a willingness to support and mentor others; and make a positive impact on the community. Murnane is a partner at Frantz Ward LLP in Cleveland.
  • Judge Robert G. Hart ’84 appointed to Sandusky County Common Pleas Court

    Robert G. Hart '84 has been appointed by Gov. John R. Kasich to the Sandusky County Common Pleas Court. Currently serving as a  Fremont Municipal Court judge, he will assume office on June 5, 2017.

  • College mourns loss of clinic staff member

    The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law community gathered on Thursday, May 18 to remember Lynda Seelie—office manager of clinical programs at Moritz—who passed away on Tuesday, May 2, 2017. She was 55. Those who knew Seelie loved her for her authenticity, honesty, and deep sense of caring. In the more than a decade that she served in clinical programs of the College, her school spirit never wavered. She strove to make students’ days a little brighter, whether by bringing one of her beloved dogs to the bar exam to keep morale high, or as a faithful audience member and assistant in the Saxbe Auditorium for presentations by students, alumni, and guests. She was vocal about how much she treasured her Moritz community, as well as her love of helping and encouraging students.     Professor Mary Beth Beazley, a pioneer in the field of legal writing, is a recent recipient of the prestigious Marjorie Rombauer Award. Granted on behalf of the Association of Legal Writing Directors, this distinctive honor recognizes significant contributions to the field of legal writing through education, published scholarship, involvement in national and individual legal writing organizations, and efforts to promote legal writing faculty across the country.Read more
