Jaclyn Bryk ’04

When Jaclyn Bryk ’04 began applying for law school, her Buckeye physician father gave her just two rules: “You can’t sue doctors, and you can’t go to Michigan.” With an illustrious litigation career, a strong work ethic, and even a winning case against Michigan, Bryk has repeatedly made her Buckeye family proud.

Currently practicing as the director and managing counsel of litigation at The J. M. Smucker Company, Bryk succeeded in each of her previous roles, rising quickly in the industry as a young associate given responsibility beyond her years.Read more

Cory J. Reed ’95

Cory J. Reed ’95 studied finance and law because the future of farming, his father’s profession, looked much different 30 years ago than it does today. Reed, whose family raised corn, soybeans, and wheat on land near Fremont, Ohio, loved agriculture but wanted a more stable career.

“In the mid ’80s, agriculture was not an attractive possibility,” Reed said. “Having just gone through one of the worst decades in farming history, people my age were moving away from the farm because of the volatility of the industry.”Read more

Ryan L. Waggoner ’10

From a young age, Ryan Waggoner ’10 ambitiously aspired to be a judge, an ambassador, and a businessman. Refusing to settle for just one, he pursued a unique practice in international corporate law, and he now manages to combine all three passions into one fulfilling career.

Waggoner, an associate at Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP in Princeton, New Jersey and New York City, has established a diverse practice advising both United States and international clients on capital markets, mergers and acquisitions, private equity transactions, and other corporate matters.   • Matthew Crall ’02 reelected as Crawford County prosecutor

    Matthew Crall ’02 has been reelected as the Crawford County, Ohio prosecutor. He has held the position since 2013. He previously served as city prosecutor for Bucyrus from 2003-2013 and city law director from 2008-2013. He also chairs the 20/20 drug abuse/public safety action team at the Crawford County Partnership for Education and Economic Development.

  • Evan Hirsch ’06 appointed to Orange Village council

    Evan Hirsch '06 was appointed as Orange Village, Ohio's new council member in February. He is an associate in the Jones Day Cleveland office where his practice focuses on representing individuals and companies engaged in real estate and business transactions.

  • Carol Mackey ’80 featured in article on local real estate growth

    Carol Mackey '80 and her business, CMC Real Estate Group, were mentioned in an article that ran in The Logan Daily News in February about the projected real estate growth for the Hocking Hills area in 2016.

  • Moritz programs ranked among top in nation by U.S. News & World Report

    The Moritz College of Law is home to two of the top-ranked specialty law programs in the nation, according to the U.S. News & World Report annual graduate education rankings, which were released in March 2016.

    The report named the College’s renowned Alternative Dispute Resolution program as the No. 1 program in the 2016 rankings. The Legal Writing and Analysis program was also included in the top tier in its category, landing at No. 13, up one spot from the year before.

    The College’s overall ranking also moved up several spots, placing 30th in the nation. This is the highest position the Moritz College of Law has achieved since the rankings began in 1990.

  • New Congressional Conversations initiative kicks off with Portman, Pelosi

    The Ohio State University continues its proud heritage of developing future policymakers and legislative leaders with Congressional Conversations, an initiative that brings prominent federal legislators to the university on a regular basis. The inaugural speakers will be U.S. Senator Rob Portman (R-OH) April 8, and U.S. House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) April 22.Read more
