Professor Sarah Cole has received the 2025 Outstanding Book Award from the International Institute for Conflict Prevention and Resolution (CPR). She and co-editors Andrea Schneider and Art Hinshaw were recognized for their book, Discussions in Dispute Resolution: The Coming of Age (2000–2009) (Oxford University Press 2025).

This marks the team’s second CPR Outstanding Book Award, having won in 2021 for their first book in the Discussions in Dispute Resolution series.  Each book in the series includes commentary from experts in the field on the most significant articles of each era in the field of dispute resolution.

The new book provides sixty-four commentaries on sixteen pivotal articles written during the field’s golden age, when dispute resolution experienced an extraordinary level of growth. Watch this video below to hear Professor Cole explain more about the book.

Cole is the Michael E. Moritz Chair in Alternative Dispute Resolution and teaches courses in mediation, arbitration, torts, and labor law. She is the 2025–27 scholar-in-residence for the International Academy of Mediators and a nationally recognized expert in arbitration and mediation. Read more about Professor Cole here.
