I use West's Selected Federal Taxation, Statutes and REgulations, Lathrope, ISBN 978-0-314-26682-8 CCH also publishes one, Federal Income Tax, Code and Regulations, Dickinson, ISBN 978-0-8080-2685-3 Foundation Press produces one just for Federal Income Tax that is smaller but it doesn't have as good an index. 978-1609300449 (I was suprised that this wasn't much cheaper than the West version). I also publsh a hornbook on Federal Income Tax. At this point it is old, but the theory is still relevant. The book is Concise Hornbook: Principles of Federal Income Taxation, Seventh Edition, Posin and Tobin 0-314-16146-5. This is not required
