Report cover: Responsible AI management. Evolving practice, growing value

The Program on Data and Governance (PDG) at The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law has released a new report, Responsible AI Management: Evolving Practice, Growing Value.

The impact of artificial intelligence (AI) continues to be felt across a variety of disciplines. While it has many benefits, there are some serious questions around AI’s capabilities. As AI use continues to grow and expand, many organizations are working to ensure it is utilized in a socially responsible way. These efforts, known as responsible AI management (RAIM), help address some of the growing public and legal concerns around AI.

This latest report shares findings from a survey-based study conducted in early 2023 of RAIM practices at businesses that develop and use AI. PDG examined what businesses do around RAIM, who is responsible for the efforts, and what value RAIM has for the businesses that implement it.

The report’s findings show that, although RAIM creates significant value for organizations, relatively few are practicing it. More organizations may be able to achieve this value by investing in RAIM.
