A former  legislator and Nevada’s youngest state gaming commission chairman at the age of 35, Sandoval was elected as the first Latino attorney general in the state and was appointed by President George W. Bush as the first Latino U.S. district court judge. Sandoval opted out of the lifetime judicial appointment to serve as the state’s first Latino governor.
