Event Description
The OSLJ Symposium will honor the work of Professor Ruth Colker and the arc of her contributions to the field of disability justice, noting important work considering inequities in special education (e.g., Disabled Education (NYU Press 2013); the limitations of the accommodation model under the Americans with Disabilities Act (e.g., ADA: A Windfall for Defendants, 34 Harv. C.R.C.L. L Rev. 99 (1999)); and anti-subordination theory (e.g., Anti-Subordination Above All: A Disability Perspective, 83 Notre Dame L. Rev. 1415 (2007)), as well as her longstanding pro bono activity that tries to put theory into practice (e.g., co-author of LSAC consent decree best practices). These contributions are reflected in the four panels below.
