An expert in the area of health law and a former FDA attorney, Associate Professor Patricia Zettler was recently quoted in an article by The Washington Post titled, “Vaccine conspiracy theorists become even more desperate after full FDA authorization.”

“That language gives FDA a tremendous amount of flexibility to continue to issue EUAs (emergency-use authorization), or to retain existing EUAs, even after one or more products are approved,” said Zettler. “For example, remdesivir is fully approved for the treatment of covid-19 requiring hospitalization, but there remains an EUA for the product for pediatric patients outside the scope of the approval.”
