Irshad Molla ’28 has been selected to join the Equal Justice Works National Advisory Committee. She will represent the Midwest region, which includes Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, and Ohio.
The committee includes law students and law school professionals from across the country who conduct outreach and provide feedback on Equal Justice Works programs and initiatives. Their work supports the organization’s mission of facilitating opportunities in public interest law and promoting equal justice.
“I wanted to be part of this committee to help bring attention to opportunities for students to translate their passions into careers,” Molla said.
Molla first connected with Equal Justice Works at its Career Fair, an opportunity she learned about through Moritz’s Career Development Office. The experience introduced her to the organization’s work and reinforced her passion for public interest law. Serving on the committee offered a way to grow her knowledge of the field while developing leadership skills.
As a committee member, Molla is especially looking forward to participating in events and reading the regional public interest award applications. She said hearing about other people’s work and seeing their passion is inspiring. That same sense of purpose is part of what draws her to civil rights or government-oriented work after law school.
“In public interest work, you really get to see the impact of what you’re doing on a one-on-one level,” she said. “There are real people with real stories behind every case, which makes the work so meaningful.”
