Mary R. Hamburger

Bio
Mary Rider Hamburger manages the library’s Technical Services Department, including acquisitions, serials check-in, cataloging, binding and preservation activities. She oversees the library materials budget and subscription plans and manages access to electronic resources including license negotiations with vendors. She assists with collection development and management of library collections including rare books and digital projects.
Prior to joining the Moritz Law Library in 1997, Mary was a member of the University Libraries’ faculty, where she held positions in special collections cataloging and managed the Copy Cataloging Unit. Before coming to Ohio State, she worked in a variety of positions at Vanderbilt University Libraries, the Cincinnati Historical Society, and the State Library of Ohio. She has written and spoken on developing new roles for paraprofessionals in cataloging and the application of new services such as OCLC PromptCat for streamlining technical services workflows.
She earned her A.B. from Mary Baldwin College, M.A. from Vanderbilt University, and M.L.S. from Peabody College of Vanderbilt University.
