Maria Orsini
Maria is a Senior Research Associate for the Drug Enforcement and Policy Center. Her primary research interests are criminology, drug policy, culture, and health, with a specific focus on the public health and public safety implications of drug policy. Her doctoral work used mixed methods to study the impact of framing on attitudes toward drug policy liberalization. Prior to earning her doctorate, Maria worked as a research analyst for the West Virginia Division of Justice and Community Services, where she focused on the implementation of evidence-based practices in the criminal justice system. Her research has been published in journals such as Addiction, Journal of Adolescent Health, American Journal of Preventive Medicine, and Contemporary Drug Problems. Maria holds a PhD in Sociology from The Ohio State University, an MA in Sociology from Marshall University, and a BA in Criminal Justice from Marshall University.
