Student Visa Document (I-20) Length of Duration

Posted on May 26, 2020

Those of you coming on student visas (F-1) may notice that your OSU-issued I-20s have a 24-month validity (instead of the one academic year length of the program). This does not mean that our program is a two year program. The Master of Laws (LLM) is a 9-month program (one academic year).

However, because we have the option for students to stay a 3rd semester, the central admissions office has decided to issue I-20s with a 24-month validity to all admitted students. You DO NOT have to provide financial documentation to the university as if you were going to be here for 24-months and if you decide to graduate after two semesters, you simply end your program and your I-20 will be terminated after the first academic year.
