Student Health Insurance & Vaccination Information
Student Health Insurance
All international students are automatically enrolled in the student health insurance, and it is required. It is possible, but very rare, that an international student is able to waive the health insurance. This year, the cost of the health insurance was $3,370. It could stay the same, but is also might increase slightly. For specific information about the student health insurance, please visit their website here.
Student Vaccination Information
All students who have confirmed intent to enroll in the LL.M. program by paying the seat deposit will receive communications from The Ohio State University’s Office of Student Life Student Health Services (and other offices as well) about updated vaccination requirements. All new students attending the Columbus campus, both international and domestic, must comply with these requirements. Details can be viewed here. Frequently asked questions are listed here.
In short, you will have to download the International Student Form and submit it to your medical provider for completion and signature. Your medical provider will be attesting to your vaccination history. You will have to upload an electronic copy of this form and all supporting documentation to MyBuckMD using your university name.# and password. In addition to this uploading step, you will also have to manually enter information from your signed form into an electronic version of the form on MyBuckMD. Exemptions are available if medical conditions, good cause, religious, philosophical or moral convictions prohibit you from meeting the vaccination requirements. Requests for exemption are reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
Although the orientation program for LL.M. students includes a scheduled visit to the Wilce Student Health Center, where students will have a brief health screening with a staff nurse, you are advised to complete as much of the vaccination verification process as possible before arriving in the U.S. At minimum, please have the student form completed and signed before the start of orientation with regard to the vaccinations you have previously received. If you are missing required vaccinations, you can receive the necessary shots at the Wilce Student Health Center. However, you will have to pay for each vaccine you receive at Ohio State. Completing the electronic form and uploading the document will help Student Health Services staff know how much of which vaccine to have on hand.
