Kephart Fisher Virtual Business of Law Conference 2023
This 3-part virtual series is designed to cultivate and advance a holistic understanding of the business of law, with the goal of helping lawyers and law students thrive in law practice for the long term. Panelists will share lessons and insights on key business of law topics.
Developed for lawyers and law students, this series will also provide useful insights and guidance for any legal professional or aspiring law student. There is no cost to attend, but registration is required for each of the 3 sessions. Participants must register for each session separately. Virtual access information will be provided to registered participants in advance of each session.
Continuing Legal Education credit (1.0 General) is approved by the Supreme Court of Ohio for the January 25 session. Applications for CLE credit for the February and March sessions will also be submitted.
How the Newest Lawyers are Changing the Practice of Law*

This program will feature a timely discussion of how the practice of law is changing, as influenced by the newest generation of lawyers. Considerations covered will include equity and belonging; remote-work options; intergenerational communication; pro bono work opportunities; and culture and community. This program will provide guidance and concrete strategies for all attorneys navigating this new era of law practice and law firm management.

Politics and the Legal Workplace in Polarized Times

Meanwhile, the media are covering the law firms that represent parties in high-profile matters like lawsuits challenging election results. Join us for a discussion of how legal workplaces are navigating issues arising from these polarized times, including difficult conversations in the workplace, law firm representation and advocacy, and giving to causes and campaigns.

Redesigning Law Practice with Wellbeing at Center

Wellbeing continues to be a topic in progress in law practice. Burnout still happens. Many lawyers emerging from the COVID-19 pandemic are juggling more than ever in their personal and professional lives. This panel will discuss structural changes in law practice that are (or appear to be) working. The session will close with a guided meditation.
