Kent Barnett Appointed Senior Fellow at Administrative Conference of the United States
Kent Barnett, dean and J. Gilbert Reese Chair in Contract Law, has been appointed a senior fellow at the Administrative Conference of the United States (ACUS). In this role, Barnett will volunteer his expertise “in the service of ACUS’s important mission to improve administrative procedure for the benefit of the American people.” His term begins July 1.
“It has been an honor to serve as a public member of the Administrative Conference over the course of three presidential administrations,” said Barnett. “I look forward to continuing my work as a senior fellow with the Conference to improve the federal bureaucracy and strengthen the rule of law.”
Barnett is now the second Ohio State Law faculty member appointed to this prestigious group within ACUS. Professor Bridget Dooling has served as a senior fellow since 2018.
As a scholar of separation of powers and administrative law, Barnett's scholarship has been published in, among other places, the New York University, Michigan, Duke, Vanderbilt, and Notre Dame Law Reviews. His work has been cited by leading administrative law casebooks, federal district and appellate courts, and the U.S. Supreme Court.
ACUS is an independent, non-partisan federal agency within the executive branch dedicated to improving administrative law and federal regulatory processes. It conducts applied research, and provides expert recommendations and other advice, to improve federal agency procedures. Its membership is composed of senior federal officials, academics, and other experts from the private sector.
