RECESS – October 8, 2019

Student Life’s Counseling and Consultation Service and other partners are hosting the 6th annual RECESS event on Tuesday, October 8, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the South Oval. In observance of National Mental Health Awareness Week, this event will educate our campus community about mental health and wellness through a variety of activities. Taking time to play can create a positive state of mind while fostering creativity, stress relief and connectedness.

Why play? And why play for adults? Play can create a positive state of mind and pleasant emotions, which can foster great things for our students and our community like creativity, innovation, mental flexibility, empathy, social connections and a sense of belonging, stress relief, and resilience. Play can also lead to mindfulness, relaxation, and is inherently nonjudgmental as it can be nondirective, unstructured, and self-motivating. At the event, individuals will have the opportunity to explore their own styles of play, try out new ways to play, relax, learn, and most importantly, have FUN! With your time, efforts, and contributions, this will be a memorable and impactful event for all members of the Ohio State community!
