Grande Lum

Grande Lum currently serves as the Chair of the Divided Community Project’s Steering Committee.  Mr. Lum was the Divided Community Project’s inaugural Director where he led the development of the Project’s Community Resiliency Initiative and Divided Communities and Social Media, secured significant funding to sustain the project, and developed a national reputation. Under Lum’s leadership, the project won the American Bar Association’s Lawyer as Problem Solver Award.

Lum currently serves as the Provost at Menlo College. He is a former director of the Community Relations Service in the U.S. Department of Justice, a former director of the Center for Negotiation and Dispute Resolution at the University of California Hastings School of Law and founded the dispute resolution training firm Accordence.

Lum has more than two decades of conflict negotiation experience including work with the Harvard Negotiation Project and Roger Fisher’s Conflict Management Inc.  Lum authored The Negotiation Fieldbook and Tear Down the Wall: Be Your Own Mediator in Conflict. He received his BA from the University of California at Berkeley, and his JD from Harvard Law School.
