Rick Mescher is a partner at Porter Wright’s Intellectual Property Practice Group. His practice involves all aspects of intellectual property law including patents, trademarks, and copyrights. He has extensive experience with preparing and prosecuting domestic, international and foreign patent applications.

Rick has been an adjunct member of faculty at the Ohio State University Michael E. Moritz College of Law since 2006, and currently teaches patent prosecution. From 2000 to 2005, Rick taught patent practice and procedure at the University of Dayton School of Law, and from 1997 to 1999 he taught patent law at the Case Western Reserve University School of Law.

Prior to law school, Rick was an engineer at the Hughes Aircraft Company where he was involved in the design, manufacture, test, and launch of Communication, weather, and intelligence gathering satellites. He was also an engineer at ITT Defense where he was involved in the design, manufacture and test of electro-optical imaging instruments for use on instruments.
