Professor Hovenkamp is a law professor and the Ben and Dorothy Willie Chair at the University of Iowa College of Law. Professor Hovenkamp is part of our sophisticated distance learning program and teaches a course remotely in Federal Antitrust Law for Ohio State and Iowa students.

Professor Hovenkamp joined the Iowa law faculty in 1986. Before his time at Iowa, Professor Hovenkamp was Professor of Law at the University of California, Hastings College of the Law, and prior to that he was Instructor, Department of History and American Civilization, University of Texas.

Professor Hovenkamp has taught Antitrust, Antitrust & Economics, Law in American History, Torts, IP Survey, Introduction to Intellectual Property, and Real Property. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. He has been the Rockefeller Foundation Fellow, Fellow of the American Council of Learned Societies, and has been the recipient of the University of Iowa Collegiate Teaching Award. In 2008 Professor Hovenkamp received the John Sherman Award from the Antitrust Division of the Department of Justice.
