Professor Holly L. Coats will teach Legal Analysis and Writing (LAW) I and II during the 2018-2019 school year. Before visiting at Moritz, Professor Coats served as a law clerk to The Honorable Algenon L. Marbley of the United States District Court for the Southern District of Ohio, and to The Honorable Michael H. Watson of the United States District Court for the Southern District of Ohio. She also practiced law as an associate at BakerHostetler, and as associate legal counsel for Abercrombie & Fitch. Before attending law school, Professor Coats worked as an executive director, managing a small nonprofit organization in Toledo, Ohio.
Outside of Moritz, Professor Coats volunteers as an Associate Director of Programming for the iBELIEVE Foundation, an organization that provides educational opportunities to Appalachian youth focused on skill-building and leadership development. She also volunteers as a pro bono attorney for the Legal Aid Society of Columbus.
Professor Coats graduated from Moritz with honors. At Moritz, she was an Associate Editor of the Ohio State Law Journal, a member of the national labor and employment moot court team, a repeat CALI Award recipient, and an Ohio State Leadership Awards winner. Professor Coats received her B.A. in political science and sociology from The Ohio State University, graduating magna cum laude with honors.
