Election Central

On Election Day, over 40 student volunteers from our Courtwatchers program came together at Election Central—one of our largest volunteer groups ever!

2024 Election

Alongside dedicated faculty and staff, they monitored key legal issues throughout the election, exemplifying Moritz’s commitment to civic engagement and justice. Each Courtwatcher was assigned two races, often in different states, with three participants monitoring each race through independent and shared insights on Microsoft Teams.

Program Highlights:

  • Race Monitoring: Courtwatchers tracked legal issues affecting their assigned races, from ongoing litigation to last-minute orders.
  • Research Resources: Participants used top legal tools like Westlaw, Lexis/Nexis, and Bloomberg Law for in-depth tracking.

After preparing in the weeks before Election Day, students gathered at Election Central at WOSU studios to observe real-time developments, applying their research and insights to understand how the evolving legal landscape influenced the election. The event was a resounding success, empowering participants with hands-on experience in election law and contributing valuable insights to Ohio State University’s Election Law program.
