Expungement and Beyond: Criminal Record Relief Practicum

In Expungement and Beyond, students engage directly with Ohio’s evolving criminal record relief laws and processes and develop a functional understanding of record relief at the national (state-by-state) and federal level.

Make a difference in the lives of Ohioans before leaving law school

Throughout the 14 week practicum, students will complete tasks necessary to assist Ohio clients with sealing and expungement applications through Opportunity Port.

This includes:

  • conducting client interviews;
  • gathering relevant case information from court systems;
  • performing eligibility analyses based on relevant state statutes; and
  • preparing legal documents.

Earn credits while changing someone’s future

Students can earn 2-3 credits by completing this practicum. The practicum requires a minimum of 45-90 hours of client-focused work and participation in weekly lectures.
