Congressman Tiberi is a lifelong resident of Central Ohio. He was first elected to represent Ohio‘s 12th Congressional District in the U.S. House of Representatives in November 2000. The 12th District is made up of Delaware, Licking, and Morrow counties as well as portions of Franklin, Marion, Muskingum, and Richland counties. Tiberi currently sits on the House’s Ways and Means Committee, which has given him the opportunity to influence issues like taxes, Social Security, Medicare, trade, and health care. He serves as chairman of the Subcommittee on Health and is a member of the Tax Policy Subcommittee as well. Tiberi additionally serves as chairman of the Joint Economic Committee, which looks at economic conditions and recommends improvements to economic policy. In the past he chaired the Tax Policy Subcommittee and the Subcommittee on Trade. Tiberi holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism from The Ohio State University, where he was a member of the world renowned marching band. Prior to his election to the U.S. House of Representatives he served as an aide to then-Congressman John Kasich before joining the Ohio Legislature where he eventually rose to the position of majority leader.
