Employers can market themselves to our students in many ways:

• Volunteering to conduct mock interviews
• Participating in career services programs relevant to area of practice
• Conducting informational interviews with students
• Working with student groups
• Hosting snacks during final exams
• Hosting an on- or off-campus event
• Sponsoring the purchase of career-related resources

Please include a brief description of the position, contact information, the name of the person to whom candidates should apply, and a list of materials applicants should submit. 2026 Public Sector Interview Program (PSIP) and Job Fair

The Public Sector Interview Program is designed for public interest and government employers. PSIP brings together public interest and public service employers seeking paid and unpaid interns. Opportunities can be for summer positions, part-time school year positions (1Ls, 2Ls), or permanent positions (3Ls). Employers select and interview students.

The Public Sector Job Fair allows public sector employers to provide information about their organizations to interested students. Public sector employers may participate in either or both programs. Examples of participating employers include The Legal Aid Society of Columbus, Cuyahoga County Prosecutor’s Office, Franklin County Public Defender’s Office, Ohio Consumers’ Counsel, Equal Justice Foundation, Industrial Commission of Ohio, Ohio Poverty Law Center, Ohio Department of Mental Health, U.S. Attorney’s Office, and the Franklin County Common Pleas Court.

• Each fall, Equal Justice Works hosts its annual career fair—the largest public interest legal career fair in the country—which brings together thousands of law students, recent graduates, public interest employers, law school faculty and staff, and public interest practitioners from across the United States and its territories for three days of prescheduled interviews and informal “table talk” discussions.

The Career Development Office adheres to the Principles for a Fair and Ethical Recruitment Process, stated by The National Association for Law Placement.NALP member employers are expected to follow the guidelines, as well. Questions regarding the application of the NALP guidelines should be directed to Beth Watkins.

Since NALP no longer provides guidance on the timing of offers, Moritz has adopted the following policy, based on significant input from employers who participate in OCI.

Offers of employment resulting from interviews during the fall OCI program, or from other interviews conducted during that time period by NALP member firms or firms hiring for similar positions, shall remain open for at least 14 calendar days from the date of the offer letter. Offers of employment dated before the beginning of OCI will remain open for at least 14 calendar days from the first day of OCI. Students will be encouraged to negotiate with employers for an extension if needed, on a case by case basis, and after consulting with their career services advisor.  If an employer does not intend to follow the 14-day time-frame, we ask that the career services office be notified in advance.

We believe these guidelines give employers a reasonably quick response time to their offers and provide students with a reasonable time to explore job opportunities, while also allowing flexibility. We want students to be able to interview with employers who are participating in OCI, which is why the policy calls for firms who have extended offers prior to that time, to begin the 14 day offer period at the beginning of the OCI program.

The above policy does not apply to offers resulting from interviews conducted for positions posted on Symplicity or conducted as part of other interview programs.

Guidelines for Recruiting 1L Students

It is important that students’ attention during their first semester of law school be focused primarily on academics and acclimating to law school life. Therefore, Moritz College of Law encourages employer participation in student professional development activities administered by the Moritz career services office and other programming by faculty or student organizations, but does not recommend activities that are directly related to recruitment. Prospective employers are asked to not initiate formal recruiting contact with 1L students until December 1.

The services of the Moritz College of Law Career Development office are available only to employers who provide equal opportunities for all, in compliance with the policy of The Ohio State University, regardless of sex, age, race, color, gender identity or expression, religion, national or ethnic origin, disability, sexual orientation, Vietnam-era or other veteran status, except as mandated by pertinent legal requirements. We also follow the Fair Labor Standards Act, which prohibits unpaid internships with for-profit entities.

From the north: Take I-71 south to the 11th Avenue exit and turn right (west). Continue for approximately 1.5 miles and turn right on High Street. Turn left immediately onto 12th Avenue. Drinko Hall will be on the left, on the corner of 12th Avenue and High Street.

Alternate route from the north: Take U.S. 23 south to Ohio 315 south. Take Ohio 315 south to the Lane Avenue exit and turn left (east). Continue on Lane Avenue and turn right (south) on High Street. Turn right (west) on 12th Avenue. Drinko Hall is on the left, on the corner of 12th Avenue and High Street.

From the south: Take I-71 north to the exit for Ohio 315 north toward Worthington. Take the exit toward Medical Center Drive/King Avenue, and turn left (north) onto Cannon Drive. Turn right (east) onto West 12th Avenue. Turn left (north) onto Neil Avenue before turning right (east) and resuming along 12th Avenue. Drinko Hall will be on the right, located on 12th Avenue between College Road and High Street.

From the west: Take I-70 east toward downtown, continuing on to I-670 east. Take the exit for Ohio 315 north. Take the exit toward Medical Center Drive/King Avenue, and turn left (north) onto Cannon Drive. Turn right (east) onto West 12th Avenue. Turn left (north) onto Neil Avenue before turning right (east) and resuming along 12th Avenue. Drinko Hall will be on the right, located on 12th Avenue between College Road and High Street.

Directions to the Barrister Club

The Barrister Club is located on the corner of High Street and West 11th Avenue, just south of Drinko Hall. It is on the second floor of the building, above Panera Bread, but must be accessed from the sidewalk along West 11th Avenue. It is marked with a small plaque to the right of the entrance.

Parking Information

Visitors have several parking options:

• The Ohio Union parking garage is located just north of Drinko Hall, adjacent to the Ohio Union, and is accessible from High Street and College Road.
• The South Campus Gateway parking garage is located east of High Street and is accessible from east 9th and 11th avenues.

Hotel Information

The nearest and best option for an overnight stay is the Blackwell, the only on-campus hotel and conference center at The Ohio State University. It features more than 150 rooms, its own restaurant, and transportation available to and from Port Columbus International Airport (CMH).  Call 866-247-4003 for reservations.

However, with the law school conveniently located near downtown, there are many additional options for an overnight stay. We suggest visiting the Greater Columbus Convention and Visitors Bureau for details on where to stay, dine, and visit during your stay.
