Alumnus establishes scholarship to honor father’s legacy
The Moritz College of Law is pleased to announce the creation of the George N. Corey Family Scholarship fund. The late George N. Corey was a longtime partner at Vorys, Sater, Seymour and Pease, where he distinguished himself not only for his legal practice, but for his dedication to recruiting and mentoring the best and brightest from diverse cultures, backgrounds and experiences, just as Vorys had done for him when he was a law student many years ago.
Corey was also committed to civic leadership, serving on the boards of trustees for many local institutions, including the Ronald McDonald House, The Columbus Academy, and The Columbus Foundation. The fund will be used to provide renewable scholarships to students enrolled in the college, with a special consideration given to students who have lived or worked in diverse environments, and those who were first-generation college students. Dean Alan Michaels stated, “We are very grateful for this gift made by the Corey Family. George’s son, Michael Corey ’12, was a scholarship recipient himself, and by making this gift he is paying forward to the next generation of law students in a direct and profound way.”
