The Shower’s Return: A Serial Essay on the LGBT Title VII Sex Discrimination Cases

June 15, 2020 | Media News

Professor Marc Spindelman, the Isadore and Ida Topper Professor of Law, recently started publishing a serial essay, The Shower’s Return: A Serial Essay on the LGBT Title VII Sex Discrimination Cases in the Ohio State Law Journal (OSJL) online. The work is a detailed account of what happened during the Supreme Court phase of the litigation in the LGBT Title VII sex discrimination cases. It provides a deep context for understanding the Supreme Court’s recent decision recognizing that anti-gay and anti-trans discrimination are forms of prohibited sex discrimination under Title VII of the 1964 Civil Rights Act.

Professor Spindelman’s scholarship focuses largely on questions of inequality, often in the contexts of sex, sexuality, sexual violence, and death. He has written widely on questions of LGBT rights. In addition to his current work on the LGBT Title VII sex discrimination cases, he is the co-author of a leading casebook in Family Law, and has published numerous articles and has been quoted widely in the press. He regularly teaches Constitutional Law, Family Law, Constitutional Law Theory, Critical Theory/Critical Lawyering, Social Justice and the Law, and Sexual Violence and the Law.

Parts I, II, and III of the essay are now available on the OSLJ website and on YouTube.
