Mary Wilson, Founding Member of The Supremes, joins Nena Couch, Head of Area Studies and Special Collections at University Libraries and Alan C. Michaels, Edwin M. Cooperman Chair in Law at the Moritz College of Law, in a conversation about the Mary Wilson Collection at University Libraries. Michaels and Wilson discuss Wilson’s legal battles to ensure fair treatment of recording artists, how Black artists were treated in the United States in the 1960s and how the music industry has changed over time.
Michaels, who served as Dean of the Moritz College of Law for 11 years, was the recipient of the 1998-99 Outstanding Scholarly Paper Award from the Association of American Law Schools. He was chosen as the Outstanding Professor by the graduating classes of 1999 and 2000. Michaels has taught Criminal Law, Criminal Procedure: Adjudication, White Collar Crime, and Sports Law.
