2021 Kephart Fisher Virtual Business of Law Conference

An application for Continuing Legal Education credit is pending before the Supreme Court of Ohio.  

This 3-part virtual series is designed to cultivate and advance a holistic understanding of the business of law, with the goal of helping lawyers and law students thrive in law practice for the long term. Panelists will share lessons and insights on key business of law topics including:

  • Lawyering, Loved Ones, and Well-being (January 28)
  • Law Firm Practice, Racial Justice, and Racial Equality (February 25)
  • A Roundtable: Next-Generation Lawyer Leaders on the Present and Future of the Business of Law (March 25)

Developed for lawyers and law students, this series will also provide useful insights and guidance for any legal professional or aspiring law student.

Registration and CLE

There is no cost to attend, but registration is required for each of the 3 sessions. Participants must register for each session separately. Virtual access information will be provided to registered participants in advance of each session. An application for Continuing Legal Education credit is pending before the Supreme Court of Ohio for the January 28 session. Applications for CLE credit for the February and March sessions will be submitted.

A conversation: lawyering, loved ones, and wellbeing

COVID-19 has brought about changes in law practice, giving rise to new challenges to lawyer wellbeing and exacerbation of familiar challenges. This program will explore those challenges and suggest helpful concrete strategies.

A conversation: law firm practice, racial justice, and racial equality
February 25
4-5:15 p.m. EST (Zoom)
In the summer of 2020, law firms across the U.S. affirmed their commitment to racial equality and racial justice. This program will shine a light on steps taken by law firms before and since and explore and critique ideas for law firms to put into motion.

A roundtable: next-generation lawyer leaders on the present and future of the business of law
March 25
4-5:30 p.m. EST (Zoom)
This final program of the series will convene a roundtable of emerging lawyer leaders who graduated from law school in recent years. They will discuss how they have approached law practice and their careers in an unsettled time, and brainstorm ideas and suggestions for grappling with both unprecedented and longstanding issues in the business of law.
