Briefing Room

Chairs of presidential commission to talk about election recommendations

February 27, 2014 | Events

Two key leaders of the recent Presidential Commission on Election Administration are coming to Columbus on Feb. 28 for a daylong conference hosted by Election Law @ Moritz and the Moritz College of Law’s Legislation Clinic.

Bob Bauer and Ben Ginsberg were co-chairs for the commission, which last month released its final report and recommendations growing out of the 2012 presidential election. The bipartisan commission’s recommendations, which include ways to reduce lines at polling places and to expand early voting, were submitted to President Barack Obama, who indicated that the White House will make implementation of the changes in the report a priority.

At the Feb. 28 event, Bauer and Ginsberg will present an overview of the report and an update on its reception. Panel discussions with leading election law scholars and election administrators also are planned. (See the full schedule here.)

The conference will run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Feb. 28 at the Vern Riffe Center for Government and the Arts, at 77 S. High St. Registration is required, and five CLE credit hours are available.
