Pension discussion to draw academics, managers, advisors

Law and Capital Markets @ Ohio State, a new program at the Moritz College of Law, is hosting a “Roundtable on Public Pension Reform” from 8 a.m. to noon Feb. 22.

The roundtable, held at the Barrister Club, 25 W. 11th Ave., will bring together leading academics, pension fund managers, and pension fund advisors to discuss the difficulties facing state and local public pension systems and how governments and pension funds are responding to these challenges.

The event will include discussions from expert panels focused on three key areas: the state of public pension reforms, pressing governance issues at state and local pensions, and investment strategies to tackle the many challenges faced by public pension funds.

Expert panelists include:

  • Regina Burch, Associate Dean and Professor, Capital University School of Law
  • Hank H. Kim, Executive Director and Counsel, National Conference on Public Employee Retirement Systems
  • Luke Martel, Senior Policy Specialist, National Conference of State Legislatures
  • Amy B. Monahan, Professor of Law and Solly Robins Distinguished Research Fellow, University of Minnesota Law School
  • Siona Listokin-Smith, Professor, George Mason University School of Public Policy
  • Paul Rose, Professor of Law, The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law
  • Chris Tobe, Principal, Stable Value Consultants; Columnist, The Wall Street Journal MarketWatch
