Colker to Head Mini-Seminar on Advanced Education Advocacy and Issue Analysis

A mini-seminar on Advanced Education Advocacy and Issue Analysis is scheduled to be held 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. July 19 at The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law.

Presented by the Ohio Poverty Law Center, LLC and Center for Interdisciplinary Law and Policy Studies, this mini-seminar aims to evaluate education law practices and enhance advocacy for parents and students in special education cases through focusing on topics such as Child Find, special education evaluations and test results, as well as IEP goal and high quality functional behavior assessments and intervention advocacy. It will be taught by Professor Ruth Colker and Professor and Chair Jane Case-Smith of Ohio State's School of Health and Rehabilitation Services Occupational Therapy Division.

Although it is designed for legal aid attorneys with experience in represents special education cases who are also familiar with the basics of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, all attorneys are welcome to attend.

Legal services staff or sponsored advocates are exempt from the $50 registration fee.
