Moot Court Teams Earn Top Honors

This year, the Moritz College of Law sent 17 traveling moot court and lawyering skills teams to compete throughout the country. These teams travel the country each spring competing in some of the nation's most prestigious competitions. Moritz students, as they do year after year, are bringing home some impressive accolades.

The College's two mediations teams emerged from a large field of competitors to face one another in the regional of the American Bar Association's Representation in Mediation Competition. The Moritz Mediations Scarlet Team – consisting of Moritz 3Ls Jessica Kim and Ramsey Reid – were victorious in the regional, which was held in Knoxville, Tenn. Jessica and Ramsey advanced to the national championship in Denver in April.

Also, 3L Vasanth Ananth was named Best Oral Advocate in the regional of the American Bar Association's National Appellate Advocacy Competition. The competition focuses on topics of general legal interest attracting students from across the nation. The Moritz team of Ananth, Joseph Lipps, and Jackie Pasek, advanced to the finals of the competition held in Boston.

In the Frederick Douglass Moot Court Midwest Regional Competition, John Saxon and Elizabeth Williamson took second place. Christopher Cellier was selected Best Oral Advocate in the Sutherland Cup Constitutional Law Moot Court Competition, and Elizabeth Braverman was selected Best Oral Advocate in the National Moot Court Competition, Midwestern Regionals.
