Externships
Externships at Moritz
Earn academic credit for fieldwork and coursework through the Externship Program.
The program oversees approximately 150 externships each academic year, allowing students to gain practical, hands-on experience in the judiciary, government offices, nonprofit organizations, and corporate legal departments. Students also gain valuable regulatory and compliance experience in various placements throughout The Ohio State University. Consistent with ABA requirements, the Moritz Externship Program closely monitors the quality of fieldwork placements and requires students to reflect critically upon their experiences.

By externing for a Justice of the Supreme Court of Ohio, I didn't just get to view the development of Ohio law up close; I got to participate in it! I got to evaluate appeals to the court, draft bench memos, and even contribute to opinions… all before I even graduated law school.”
