Lawyering Skills Program
Moritz offers several opportunities for students to learn essential lawyering skills outside of the traditional Moot Court competitions.
Alternative DIspute Resolution: Students interested in alternative dispute resolution can participate in Moritz’s Lawrence Negotiations and Representation in Mediation Competitions. The winners of those competitions will represent Moritz at ABA-sponsored regional and national competitions.
Transactional Skills: Moritz participates in the regional and national LawMeet competitions, which emphasize transactional lawyering practice. Students are selected for Moritz’s LawMeet teams based on their performance in intraschool online competitions.
National Security: 2013-14 marks Moritz’s inaugural participation in the National Security Crisis Invitational held at Georgetown University’s School of Law. Students for this team are selected based on their performance in classes which focus on international law and national security.
Trial Practice: Students who have completed the Trial Practice course can try out to compete in both the Ohio Attorney General’s Public Service Mock Trial Competition and the Texas Young Lawyer’s National Trial Competition.
