RACE JUDICATA, a charity 5k run/walk presented by the Student Bar Association, is a community service event that brings law students and members of the Columbus legal community together for a day of service.
This year, all of the proceeds from the race will be donated to the Captain Jonathan D. Grassbaugh Veterans Project, a student-created organization that provides legal assistance to veterans of the United States military. With the continual drawdown of combat missions overseas, more and more veterans are in dire need of assistance. As veterans return home, many face debt crises, landlord-tenant issues, foreclosure, and disability claims. The Grassbaugh Veterans Project aims to use Columbus law students and lawyers to provide much needed legal support to veterans that may otherwise go without it. Ultimately, the organization hopes to raise $250,000 to maintain its efforts. More information can be found at http://giveto.osu.edu/grassbaughveteransproject/.
Cost of participation is $20. Additionally, for a donation of $50, law firms, businesses, or other groups can place their logos on Race Judicata t-shirts. Large logos are available for a donation of $100, and premium logos are available for sponsors that donate $250 or more. Donation checks and an electronic version of the logo must be received no later than 5 p.m. on March 21, 2016 to ensure placement on the shirts. Please contact Marla Trinidad at Trinidad.email@example.com or (614) 284-8507 for more details.
For those who would like to support Race Judicata but cannot be present for the physical race, please consider the Virtual Runner option. Click here to make a donation online. The goal for Virtual Runner contributions is $1,200.
