2012 Summer Law Program

Oxford, EnglandFor the 25th consecutive year, the Ohio State Moritz College of Law and the University of Oxford will offer their Summer Law Program at the University of Oxford in Oxford, England. The 2012 program, which is one of the oldest overseas law programs in existence, is scheduled for July 3 to Aug. 5. The program is limited to 65 participants.

The University of Oxford – The Ohio State University Summer Law Program offers students the unique opportunity to study with faculty from both Oxford University in England and The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law in the United States. Students will learn about the British and American legal systems through a combination of class work, guest lectures, and excursions to Oxford and London. The program houses students in private rooms at St. Anne's College and provides them with full board seven days a week. Participants can choose from among five different courses and earn up to six hours of credit toward their law degrees.

Oxford, England University of Oxford was founded in the 12th century and is known worldwide as a premier institution of higher education. The university began as a confederation of independent colleges, each of which consists of a self-contained academic unit with a dining hall and student rooms. St. Anne's is one of Oxford's newest colleges and has an outstanding reputation for academic excellence. It is also located close to all of Oxford's other colleges and libraries as well as the downtown shopping district.

The Moritz College of Law and the University of Oxford have teamed up to run the Summer Law Program since 1987, educating law students in a variety of comparative and international law topics. This year the program will offer courses in Comparative Legal Professions, Comparative Family Law, Comparative Criminal Procedure, Comparative Sentencing and Punishment, and European Union Law. These courses will be taught by professors from University of Oxford and from the Moritz College of Law.
