Oxford Study Abroad
Semester in Oxford Program
Application Process
The application process and deadlines for Moritz law students seeking to participate in the semester program at Oxford for Spring 2010 consist of the following elements:
Application Materials
Students interested in applying to participate in the program are required to submit five (5) documents:
- Application Form

- Deposit check for $250 (details on application form)
- A current resume or CV
- A list of all courses taken in law school, including the number of credits and the names of the professors who taught the course. Please list those courses you hope to take - or subject matter areas you hope to study - during the Fall 2009 semester.
- A short informal statement (no longer than one page, double-spaced) discussing why you are interested in participating in the Oxford semester program in Spring 2010.
Application Deadlines
All students must submit all materials noted above on or before Noon on Monday, March 30, 2009. Submit a package containing all materials to:
Laura Landy Carr
Room 341
Moritz College of Law
Application Deposit
No applicant's check will be deposited until he or she is accepted into the program. Checks will be returned to those students who are not selected to participate.
Selection Procedure and Time Table
- Applications will be reviewed by a three-person committee consisting of College faculty and administrators. Preference will be given to current Moritz students.
- Students will be selected for participation in the program (including a waiting list) before Moritz Law conducts pre-registration for the 2009-10 academic year.
- If the number of applicants is sufficient, the reviewing Committee will choose 10 initial students for the program and also establish a wait list of as many as 10 additional students. Given the contingencies that may arise between February and Fall 2009 for some initially accepted students, it is anticipated that one or more students from the wait list will become part of the semester program.
Confirmation Deposit
Accepted students must confirm their participation with a non-refundable deposit of $750 by Tuesday, September 8, 2009. A check or money order in the amount of $750 should be made payable to The Ohio State University. Submit it to Laura Landy Carr, Room 341, The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law, 55 West 12th Avenue, Columbus, OH 43210. Students who are admitted from the wait list after September 8 must submit $1,000 within one week of acceptance to cover the application and confirmation deposits.
