Program on Dispute Resolution

Student Groups

Truancy Mediation Project

The Truancy Mediation Project provides basic mediation skills and truancy mediation training to an enthusiastic group of students, including 1Ls. These students mediate cases involving school officials, students, and parents with the goals of fostering clearer understanding of expectations between schools and families, helping to generate ideas that will help young people and their families believe school attendance is a high priority, and, ultimately, reduce absences in schools.

Dispute Resolution and Youth

The Dispute Resolution and Youth Program sends law students into Columbus elementary and middle schools to teach children mediation, negotiation, and general conflict management skills. The Program strives to teach mediation, negotiation, and general conflict management skills to children. The main goal of the program is to show youth peaceful and constructive ways to resolve conflicts, including talking, listening, understanding, and collective problem solving.
