Professor Sarah Cole received a special Valentine’s Day surprise when Ohio State President E. Gordon Gee made a visit to her class to announce that she was a recipient of the 2012-2013 Alumni Award for Distinguished Teaching.   President Gee’s remarks, in front of Prof. Cole’s class, recognized her outstanding skill and dedication to the teaching mission of The Ohio State University.  The Distinguished Teaching Award is the University’s highest teaching honor, given to no more than 10 faculty members each year from the more than 8,000 University faculty.

Moritz College of Law’s Dean Alan C. Michaels, said of Prof. Cole, “Sarah is not only an exceptional scholar and fantastic leader for our Program on Dispute Resolution, but a phenomenal teacher in the classroom and in exchanges with her students. She brings to her lessons a wealth of practical experience that benefits our students. Plus, she’s extremely approachable, making it easy for students to seek her guidance in the classroom and outside of it.”

Prof. Cole is the 11th Moritz faculty member to win the Alumni Award for Distinguished Teaching since 1967. This is the sixth time in eight years that a Moritz College of Law professor has received the honor.
