Moritz to Host Effective Use of Interpreters In Mediation CLE

The Franklin County Municipal Court Dispute Resolution Department, Moritz College of Law Center for Interdisciplinary Law & Policy Studies, and the Supreme Court of Ohio Office of Interpreter Services will host a course on the Effective Use of Interpreters in Mediation in the Moritz College of Law’s Saxbe Auditorium on Friday, October 19, 2012.

The highly interactive, specialized training focuses on effective approaches to bridging communication barriers between mediation parties and mediators who do not share a common language. Program participants will learn tools for effective collaboration with court interpreters. The session will explore how mediators can select the right interpreter, how shared language influences a mediation session, and how preparation for mediation can lead to positive results. Participants will also learn some of technical aspects of professional interpretation.
