Leadership Skills Workshop: Emotional Intelligence

January 31, 2014 | 3:00 pm - 6:00 pm

Emotional intelligence (EQ) is concerned with understanding oneself and others, relating to people, and adapting to and coping with the immediate surroundings to be more successful in dealing with environmental demands.  EQ helps to predict success because it reflects how a person applies knowledge to the immediate situation.

Want to know what your EQ is?  Want to know how that information can make you a more effective lawyer, leader, and professional?  Then take advantage of this amazing opportunity through a three part workshop. As a result of your participation in this workshop you will:  (1) recognize and understand key dimensions of emotional intelligence; (2) develop strategies to improve and enhance their effectiveness whether at school, work or at home; and (3) receive the results of your own emotional intelligence assessment.

Part 1:  Complete an online assessment prior to the January 24 deadline (an email with a link to the online test will be sent to you after your participation is confirmed)

Part 2:  Attend the workshop on Friday, January 31 from 3:00 – 6:00 p.m. in 251 Drinko to learn more about EQ and receive your EQ results.
Part 3:  Attend a one-on-one individualized counseling session (1 hour) with a trained professional to analyze the results of your EQ assessment in February (dates to be arranged individually with counselor).

Because space is extremely limited, a lottery for this workshop will be conducted.  To be placed in the lottery pool, please contact Annina Parini at parini.2@osu.edu.  You will be notified by email on January 16 if your name was chosen to participate.  Please note that participation in all 3 parts of the workshop are required.
