Dean’s Roundtable with John Lowe ’98, CEO of Jeni’s Ice Cream

John Lowe, Moritz class of 1998, CEO of Jeni’s Splendid Ice Cream since July, 2009.  Jeni’s Ice Cream has five stores throughout central Ohio and sells its product wholesale to restaurants.  Jeni’s Ice Cream is known for their artesian quality desserts and unique flavors such as Salty Caramel, Bourbon Buttered Pecan, and Dark Chocolate Peppermint.

John was an attorney for GE Aviation in Cincinnati prior to his appointment as CEO of Jeni’s.  Prior to joining GE, John practiced law in Columbus, Ohio, where he was twice named a “Rising Star” in the Cincinnati Magazine’s “Ohio Super Lawyers” and was a recipient of Business First Magazine’s “40 Under 40″award. John has worked with the Student Leadership Intern Program, KidsVoting, Junior Achievement and the Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership Conference. He has been active with United Way, having Co-Chaired the Central Ohio Young Leadership Group, United Way’s most successful YLG organization with over 1,000 young professionals each donating over $2,500 annually. He is a graduate of Leadership Columbus, Class of 2003.

Lowe earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He is certified as a Six Sigma Green Belt.
