2006 Woodside Speaker Series

The Right to Housing: Building a Solid Foundation

  • Date: April 3, 2006
  • CLE Credit: The Supreme Court of Ohio has approved 5.25 hours of CLE credit. We are also offering 5.25 hours of CEU credits for social workers.

While the right to basic needs such as food, medical care, and clothing has been established for very low-income persons, the right to housing has not. Is there a right to affordable housing and shelter?

The Moritz College of Law's Pro Bono Research Group will host a symposium as part of the Woodside Speaker Series on the right to housing for low-income individuals and families. The current decrease in available affordable housing coincides with a stagnate number of shelter beds, thereby creating a housing crisis for the low-income and homeless.

Local and state housing experts will discuss efforts to address the crisis in affordable housing and national experts will explore the legal right to shelter.
