Feinberg to present ‘Unconventional Responses to Unique Catastrophes’

The annual Lawrence Negotiation Lecture will feature Kenneth R. Feinberg, speaking on “Unconventional Responses to Unique Catastrophes: Tailoring the Law to Meet the Challenges” on Oct. 25 at The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law.

Feinberg has been key to resolving many of the nation’s most challenging and widely known disputes. He served as the special master of the federal September 11^th Victim Compensation Fund of 2001, in which he reached out to all who qualified to file a claim, evaluated applications, determined appropriate compensation, and disseminated awards. Feinberg also served as special master for the Troubled Asset Relief Program (TARP) and as administrator of the BP Deepwater Horizon Disaster Victim Compensation Fund. He is the author of Who Gets What: Fair Compensation after Tragedy and Financial Upheaval.

The annual lecture is named after James K. L. Lawrence ’65, a partner with Frost Brown Todd in Cincinnati who has practiced labor-relations and employment law for more than 30 years. He is a skilled advocate in arbitration and an astute negotiator in collective bargaining and settlement discussions.

He has pursued vigorously the sustained study of dispute resolution materials at programs throughout the country and has blended that study and practice into teaching courses in negotiation and mediation at The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law. He has given generously of his time, talent, guidance and resources to Moritz and its Program on Dispute Resolution.
