Five members of Moritz’s Class of 2012 have been named editors-in-chief of the College’s law journals for the 2011-12 school year. Jaci Wilkening will lead the Ohio State Law Journal; Maureen Fulton will take over the Ohio State Journal on Dispute Resolution; Heather Williams was named editor-in-chief of the Ohio State Journal of Criminal Law; Jill Fridley will head I/S: A Journal of Law and Policy for the Information Society; and Jeremy Panno will take the helm of the Ohio State Entrepreneurial Business Law Journal.

Jaci WilkeningWilkening, of Ulysses, Kansas, graduated from the University of Notre Dame with majors in political science and Russian language and literature. This summer, Wilkening expects to work in the Cleveland office of Jones Day. “As a foundation, I hope to continue publishing top-quality scholarship across all disciplines, and strive to provide authors with a great experience working with our journal,” she explained. “To develop the long-term reputation of our journal, I plan to explore uses of the Internet to showcase the authors and pieces we publish. Thirdly, I want to position each journal member to thrive in their roles by providing efficient processes and fostering a collaborative atmosphere.”

Maureen FultonFulton, of Omaha, Neb., is a graduate of the University of Missouri, where she majored in journalism. Fulton is expected to head to Miami, Fla., this summer to work as a Florida Bar Foundation fellow for the Florida Justice Institute. Fulton said that her interest in the Journal on Dispute Resolution stemmed from the positive interactions she had with Moritz ADR faculty as a 1L. “I knew the subject matter was applicable in almost every area of the law and that what I learned while working on the journal would be valuable in legal practice.”

Heather WilliamsWilliams, of Lake Forest, Ill., majored in philosophy and criminology and criminal justice at the University of Maryland at College Park. She plans to work as a law clerk in the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Indianapolis during the 2011 summer. “My primary goal as editor-in-chief is to maintain the status of the Ohio State Journal of Criminal Law as the premiere journal in its field by attracting quality authors and having a tightly run staff,” she said. “I also hope to coordinate with student organizations and faculty members to expose staff members and students to the myriad opportunities within criminal law.”

Jill FridleyFridley, of Zanesville, Ohio, received her bachelor’s degree from Ohio University, where she majored in journalism. Fridley plans to work as part of the Equal Justice Foundation in the upcoming summer. “I joined I/S because I am interested in the law and policy behind the dissemination and collection of information,” she said. “It is an area that affects so many facets of our lives. The power that our generation holds to influence others through our opinions and insights has never been known before, and it really is changing the way people around the world relate to one another.”

Jeremy PannoPanno, of Canfield, Ohio, graduated from The Ohio State University, where he majored in economics. “I was attracted by the opportunity to surround myself with a peer group that was extremely committed to business law scholarship,” Panno said about joining the EBLJ. “I joined the Ohio State Entrepreneurial Business Law Journal (EBLJ)because, unlike the other law journals at Moritz, it provided a unique opportunity to immerse myself in business law scholarship. The EBLJ also provides an exceptional opportunity for a student publication in a field dominated by legal practitioners and scholars.”
