Sen. Sherrod Brown
The Moritz College of Law chapter of the American Constitution Society will host Ohio’s U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown on Tuesday, Aug. 24 from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Sen. Brown’s speech is entitled “Justice as Progress.” He will discuss the appointments process and the role of the federal courts in the 21st Century, as well as what young lawyers can do to promote equal justice for all.
“The American Constitution Society's mission is to ensure that fundamental principles of human dignity, individual rights and liberties, genuine equality, and access to justice enjoy their rightful, central place in American law,” said Adam Heider, the American Constitution Society treasurer and organizer of the event. “Senator Brown embodies that mission, and we are fortunate that he has agreed to come speak to Moritz students.”
The event, which is free and open to the public, will be in the Moritz College of Law’s Saxbe Auditorium within Drinko Hall.
Sen. Brown assumed his seat in the U.S. Senate in January 2007. Prior to serving in the U.S. Senate, Brown sat for seven terms as a U.S. congressman for the 13th District and two terms as Ohio’s secretary of state. He has taught in Ohio’s public schools and at The Ohio State University.
